I was invited to be one of the panelists for a dialogue title “Youth Involvement in National Affairs” organised by National Aspiration & Leadership Summit (NALS) 2017 alongside Ms Ng Yeen Seen, Chief Operating Officer of ASLI, Mr Azman Azeez Members of Youth Parliament and the moderator himself Mr E.V. Kaviyarasu.
There were more than 500 participants in this dialogue session consisted of local and international university students.
In this session I touched on couple of main points:
- The importance of youth involvement in national affairs
- The rapid progress of technology that has changed our nation economic landscape and our lifestyle
- Challenges that we are facing in the global flows that are beyond our control
- How the youth can get involved and contribute to national development
- National Transformation 2050 or TN50 as the platform and opportunity for the youth to shape and chart Malaysia’s future
I was also given the opportunity to answer one of the participants’ question regarding Malaysians’ habit and mentality that need to be improved in order to be more open-minded, confident and not to be so envious and looking for others’ faults or weaknesses like the recent World Award Winning Faiz Subri who won the Puskas Award in Zurich where he was looked down upon because of his command of English language.
I was also interviewed by the press regarding TN50 and youth involvement in national affairs.
I would like to thank the organiser NALS2017 team for inviting me to be one of the panelists in their session about youth and national affairs.
To the youth out there, this is our time. Malaysia 10, 20 and 30 years from now is in our hands. It’s up to us on how we would chart the future.
