LAUNCHING OF THE NEW BRAND OF ASIAN FINANCE BANK (AFB)

Our economy is also supported by a robust financial system that we have successfully developed over the past six decades. For the past 50 years, Malaysia’s financial system has been transformed from a system which is dominated by the banking sector into one that is highly diversified with greater market orientation, as well as more consolidated and rationalised.

our financial system has also developed significantly in terms of institutional building, financial market development and putting in place the right infrastructure. In terms of institutional building, we have succeeded in establishing and empowering well-functioning regulatory institutions to oversee specific components of our financial systems.

The government is ever committed to pursue our strategic economic policies that emphasise collective, sustainable and inclusive growth. We want to ensure that every segment of the society will be able enjoy the benefits from our economic progress and we want to prosper together.

As we now live in an era of mass adoption of technology, it is inevitable that the way we live, work, and relate to one another will be fundamentally altered. As we can observe across the globe, no industry is insulated from this digital wave including our baking and financial industry.

Many are now aware that digital innovations can clearly address industry needs and inefficiencies inherent in legacy structures. And as such, I urge and encourage everyone here to find new ways to leverage on the digital space to remain competitive.
